Probably the biggest fight of 2007 has now been agreed with Newark’s Dean Sugden taking on the legendary Lex Easdon for the IKF world middle weight title on March 10th in Newark. This will be Deans ultimate test as he his moving up from light middle weight where he holds the WKA title to face the man regarded as the undisputed world middle weight champion. This kickboxing extravaganza is to be held at the new 4000 capacity exhibition hall at Newark showground and will feature some of the best kickboxers on the circuit including, 8 man elimination champion Steve Swinburn, WAKO pro British champion Shawn Burton and Australian champion Tim Drury.

Hi Lee, We have another show already scheduled for November 18th which is a dinner show featuring kickboxing and white collar boxing. This has been planned for quite some time and proceeds are going to a local charity so we need to concentrate on getting this show out of the way first.
The details for the dinner show will be put on here next week along with any the matches that have been confirmed.

Dean is a good friend of mine, so i am confident in him, its gonna be a tough tough test so testiment to dean for taking this fihgt, a lot of people called him when he won his world title, no1 can question this choice of opponent!!

I know both fighters and have been a friend of deans for some years.I have seen both fight. My thoughts are this. lex may be to strong for Dean but he must be coming to the end of his career?. big respect to Dean for fighting such a reputable fighter and its nice to see lex out of his own back door, scotland.I will go to see this one .unfortunatly i have no one on at this time myself so i mite be located proping the bar up. lol.If deen users his kicks and keeps out of range he could win on points. Lex can bang and has a lot of experience.A vary interesting fight ? What you think Shawn
DanUK
Posted: 2006-09-16 06:39:40
both are goog fighters, i think Lex will be too powerful, look forward to the winner fighting john orchard (if hes back up to their weight that is). Sounds like a good show with shawn burton and steve swinburn too!
Shawn 'Boom Boom' Burton
Posted: 2006-09-16 07:12:00
the thing a lot of people do give Dean credit for is his boxing, he can bang with both hands and kicks like a mule, head and body!! i also think that if the whole of Newark gets behind him, which they seem to do, that alone will bring out even more quality from Dean!! I just hope that he gets the full preperation on his fight and not too much on match making!! but hes a professional person and i am sure he will manage both well!!

Cant wait for the show!!

Gay boy whats your identity??

Fighting is not everything and some times when you put all your eforts into your fighters you produse great fighters. Although dean has prodused these over the years.Hows Big dave and the boys?

As far as the IKF is concerned, although it is not one of the traditional 'big three' (wako, wka, iska) the IKF is big in the states and is the only governing body that regularly updates its website and rankings etc, and is at least as credible as the others these days, IMO.

I too was a bit surprised to see your announcement of the fight in Dec between Shawn and B as Shawn has always been down to fight on my show. All we have done is switch his opponent as he wants to fight the best not only in this country but also test himself against top International opposition.

Shawn gave away weight and fought Arid Mikalson from Norway twice. In the last fight Shawn gave Arid some major problems and I believe will give Dollars the fight of his life. Dollars is I am sure a quality fighter, the Latvians are very strong and both come highly rated by Dell.

Shawn I am pleased to say has always fought on my shows and I am delighted to bring him this opportunity to mix it at this level.

I am very pleased to bring this fight to Newark and look forward to working with Dell Mann.

Shawn under the guidance of Big Dave has proved once again he is prepared to fight anyone anytime.

Thanks for your comments mate, but for the record i was surprised when you told me the other week. If you remember i told you then that Shaun was supposed to be on our show.

Back to March 10th
If anyone wants to fight Shaun Burton WKA & WAKO Pro 63.5kg British Champion on March 10th in Newark, Andy Burton, Barrinder Singh, Julian Konate, Daniel Dredds Scott. Please ask your trainer to call me or email me. Shaun is already confirmed on this show and for the record his trainer Big Dave has said he would fight anyone out of the Top 3,4 fighters in the country. This will be for the Golden Belt British Title over 7 x 2 rounds to decide who is No.1 Full COntact fighter in UK.
Likewise Steve Swinburn will be moving up in weight and fighting for the 66.8kg max Golden Belt British Title. I am still waiting on final confirmation but have invited already some of the top fighters in this weight division to take up the challenge.

3. Occupation

4. Amateur record
18F 13W 4L 1D
5. Pro record
14F 12W 2L
6. Martial arts experience
Kung-Fu 5yrs
7. Most memorable fight
My first title fight for the ISKA East Coast Title against Damon O'grady. I suffered a fractured rib at training in the days preceding the fight but there was no way, being my first title shot, I was going to pass it up. After each of us knocking the other down I then dominated the fight and gained the victory. The pain from the rib was excruciating but the Belt helped ease my suffering!
8. Toughest opponent
Difficult to say as most opponents are very tough. Probably Dave Hoy as I felt I hit him with everything I had but he stood his ground and gave plenty back.
9. Dream fight you would want to be in
World Kickboxing Title shot. I'd also love to fight overseas and on some high profile local shows.
10.Favourite fighter you respect
'John' Wayne Parr. Though I haven't met him personally, his conduct in and out of the ring is exemplary. He respects and thanks those who support him and is happy to jump on the Forum and exchange views.
I also have a huge respect for Kostya Tszyu. A true World Champion who doesn't trash talk but rather lets his ring craft and skills do the talking.
Both these men give freely of their time and dedication to build their respective sports.
11.Best and worst aspects of the fight game
Best: Meeting good people in the sport; some of whom I may fight but then later have a beer as friends afterwards. Being part of a great gym at 108 Supalek with great support. Also the satisfaction of training to the peak of your abilities and endurance, often at great personal sacrifice.
Worst: Dishonesty and deception from those in the game totally for themselves. Being unable to get the right fights and opportunities. Also the frustration at being unable to give up my current job in order to fight fulltime (due to financial commitments)
12.Favourite techniques
Hard kicks, uppercuts and body rips.
13.Superstitions or unusual pre-fight practices
I try not to fool around in the sack for at least a week before the fight. Pretty frustrating but I believe the results are worth it. (Ed: Not sure if Danni would concur with that!)
14.In 10yrs, how would you like to be remembered
To be thought of in a similar way to my favourite fighters. Also for people to know I always take fights, give 110% and try to give back to younger fighters the experience I have learnt. I would love to win a World Title in acknowledgement of my dedication to training.
15.Other comments
This sport has been the best thing to happen in my life. I live by it and will continue to. It has helped me in many ways and once I retire from fighting I will give what I have gained to the future generation and hope they feel the same gratification as I have. My appreciation to all the Supalek guys especially my trainer Ray Hay.

Dell,

I did an exhibition bout with Deans son Chad at the last Kelham Hall show in July, it felt great coming out there, the showground is also great, the atmostphere created was like I said Electric and it has the bigger capacity.
Kelham Hall has got to be seen for the history it holds though. I really loved it, it is really an amazing building.

Respect Leif.

Thanks for confirmation Dean - i'm not questioning any offer made to fight in March, that is between you and Jag and as you say should be kept off the website.

But i'm pretty sure that fight wouldn't have been accepted, only to be declined when a more favourable offer came along - unlike what has happened here re: Dec 3rd show.

Posted: 2006-09-27 04:06:15
JonC - I dont think that was the case, that this is not about a more favourable offer...its about Big Dave not being happy with the way Shawn has been contacted direct on some of these dealings / discussions.

My view is that Trainers and Promoters should talk about fights and fighters should be allowed to concentrate on what they do best which is fighting.

Personally I want to talk to other trainers and not direct to fighters. I would not dream of ringing B up direct and offering him this fight.

For the record...I have offered it to Jag on numerous occasions. Not just because its a good ticket seller. But because I have been promoting both fighters from when they first started and Newark is in the middle of Leic and Lincoln.

Regardless whether or not the fight between Shawm and B goes ahead, this show will be amongst the very best full contact shows in 2007. As people who have been to the shows in Newark before know the atmosphere is always excellent and this time it will be even better with the exhibition hall having a 4000 capacity, this will be the venue to compete at. With fighters such as Dean Sugden, Lex Easden, Austrailias Tim Drury, Shawn Burton, Steve Swinburn, Latvia's Edward Krauklis plus many more top class fighters all under the same roof.
Reading through this thread it dissapoints me to read all the tittle tattle about who said what, when and why. We should be trying to promote the sport with the very best tallent around ready to compete against each other rather than getting drawn into fight politics.

Mark Ellwood The Wild Thing will fight on this show. Mark and myself have been great friends / sparring partners now for many years. He recently fought Darren Forrest after nearly 3 years out of the ring. I had never seen Darren down before this one. Mark is in great shape for this one and any body who was there in Hull the other week will have witnessed life in the old dog yet.

He was devastating and showed why people still talk about him to this day. It will be a priveledge to be on the same bill.

Well Done Mark!

I am pleased to announce 2 x MORE great fights to the undercard on March 10th.

Cruiser Weight -
Jamie Norkett ISKA English Champion at 82.5kg versus Marlon The Game Hunt WAKO Amateur British Champion 84kg.

Both fighters have only lost once in over 10 contest and are willing to put them selves to test in what is sure to be a great fight.

Welterweight -
Ryan "The Hammer" Hamer WAKO PRO British Champion versus Steve "Stone Cold" Swinburn ISKA British Champion and winner of 8 man tournament 2006.

All fighters and trainers are putting politics to one side so we can get these great domestic dust ups on.

Good Luck to all fighters! and thanks to trainers involved in making these fights happen.

Snail - Re AM i current World Champion? Good Question! I believe I still am the WKA World Light Middle Full Contact Champion.

However there was some discusion about me defending abroad and i stipulated that my first defence should be in my home town. This subject was disputed for some time...If you look at WKA web site today I am still listed as The Current World Champion.

In the melee of all the discusions I started planning my next move (challenge). It was to move up in weight and fight someone I regarded as a Ring Legend. And someone who truly can be described as The Undisputed Middleweight Champion OF THE World.

That title could not be questioned and Lex's record as a Professional Full Contact fighter is second to none.

50 fights 48wins 1 draw 1 loss (39 KO's). Including win in 2005 of 8 man 75kg tournament inc George Kampitas.

His wins include some of the most prolific fighters the UK have ever produced.

I have campaigned at both weights previously, but it is fair to say this is the biggest challenge yet.

As the current Light Middle World Champion I asked myself should I try and become a 2 weight World Champion. I had the opportunity as I was ranked in the Top 10 in the World by the IKF as I had campaigned at this weight previously.

Lex is the No.1 according to the IKF, the rest speaks for itself. Originally this was a IKF World Title Fight.

Barrinder - You are a little naive to suggest this fight Low Kick Fight (loss) has any purpose or bearing on my fight with Lex in March other than an opportunity to sharpen Lex's skills.

All - Tickets are selling fast and Barry Lock another British NO.1 has confirmed he is to fight John Lawson's top fighter Keith Morris over 7 rounds in a non title bout which I am sure will be another cracker.Thsi match is at 55kg!

Thanks!

Full Contact will out in force March 10th 2007.

B -While you are on B I have been trying to get Jag to confirm fight with Michael Johnson...Can you ask him to confirm either way cause Michael is waiting to hear?

B -Dont want to get into a AX debate but your opinion / previous comments made i disagree with. You have to look at all the circumstances when making statements about fighters credentials to fight for Titles.

B -Re March 10th - I have offered you fight with Shawn, Dredds and now Michael. If you / Jag dont accept Michael fight that is fine. But i just need to know so we can plan accordingly.

Dan Had no reply to latest proposed match. I was originally told B would be available but no confirmation yet for Michael Johnson match. Which is a shame cause I think Michael would give B a real test, like Dredds would etc etc.

Promoted B when he first started out, in fact I put him on against Sucky many years ago and it was a tremendous fight. Not so easy to pin down now which is a shame for B cause in my opinion he needs to fight these top fighters in England.

Hope to get a yes cause this is the strongest domestic card i HAVE ever promoted. B should be part of it...

Come on Jag let him go! Left you a couple of messages and sent you an email.

Got to agree with you Dean, B and Michael would be a cracking fight to have on the show. It would be a shame for B to miss out on the chance to fight on the biggest full contact show of 2007.
B i have seen you fight on quite a few occassion and you are quality mate, personally i think you need this fight to look at moving yourself up the ranking to get the title shots you are capable of both domestically and internationally.
LETHAL-LEIF2
Posted: 2006-12-29 03:20:47
I think this fight would be fantastic, I have only seen B fight once but have always admired him and Michael well wot can I say, he has been there for me through all my career in the north east, he has picked me up when down, he has shown me how to take a loss with and still feel good about myself and how to keep my feet firmly on the ground after a win.
Robbie ( Michael ) is a great fighter and needs to fight people like B and the same the other way round, how can we get a true rankings if the fighters do not get to fight each other.
The way I see it is that time is getting close and these are 2 great fighters who when they fight like to give their all, how can this happen if the time to get ready for such a fight is getting shorter.

Respect Leif

Just got back from Amsterdam.... Was wicked!!!
lol Looks like i'm wanted... which makes me feel nice ah..... lol!!!

I'm a fighter, my job is to fight anyone that i'm put in front of. I'm in Ireland 25th Feb then i'm also booked for March aswell i think...

I'm sure me and Robbie will meet in the ring one day... I'm not retiring any time soon so don't worry people i'm sure you'll get to see me against all the fighters that keep being mentioned Shawn, Andy and even Dredds if he's still around... Happy to fight anyone anywhere... Not bothered who and in what order, but i'll leave that up to my coach, that is his job... I'm not out to pimp myself to promoters.. i tried pimping myself in dam, don't think i'll be doing any pimping again lol.... I am Joking by the way! lol....

Happy new year to everyone and I hope you all had a good xmas!!!!!!!

This is a big show and for the record we have been talking to coaches for many months prior to any other discussions about other shows.

In fact I recieved a verbal commitment from your coach B that you would definately be available and since this I have been spending time trying to match you. I have offered fights for this show against Shawn, Dredds and now Michael. Only to find out on AX and not direct from Jag but from others that you are not available.

Dissapointing!

However moving on...the card is now finalised!

I will publish in next few days.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Jag - I have left you various messages for you to call me, email me direct or text me but you have chose to respond on here. So be it...but that is not the way I NORMALLY do business.

I have responded to peoples comments to keep them informed.

I think you have elavated Barrinder some what. After our initial discussion about a bout with Shawn if you recall you said to me you would be happy for me to match him against someone else for the figure I emailed and discussed with you.

Has he or is he a World Champion? Why would i WANT to pay that kind of money to B as a purse. We always offer exceptional ticket deals.

Anyway its all academic now really, think you have made a decision and should stick by it. As Snail said and i agree it is very important and honorable to fight on the other show you have committed to. I dont want to put another promoter in the same position you have put me in.

It is a shame that I find out on here he is not available unless i get involved in this strange and bizarre proposition.

I know you like to be in the thick of things Jag but have you turned into WKA president and made me a former World Champion.

What has B and him fighting on my show got to do with me fighting on yours and where the hell did that come from?

That is the first time you have mentioned or asked me to compete on your show. If you are serious give me a call or email me direct dont be silly or Fuck write off!

Love peace and harmony.... yeah right. Knife stab in back seems more appropriate.

Could you please remind me of the titles that Barrinder holds, dont remember him being a world (or former) champion. Surely to offer the same purse is nothing but an insult.

Hey Guys,

A new year a new start, lets not get personal on Ax please !!!!!!
Snail
Posted: 2007-01-03 02:46:03
This is not aimed at Dean or Barinder , just an observation but a purse isn't always gauged by what title you have or are going for , ive seen 5 fight novices recieve purses that exceed the purse recieved by the top of the bill title fights on the same show !! simply because they are damn popular and sell the tickets to warrant the purse ! Im not saying Dean and Barinder don't sell ticket because they both blatantly do but im am saying title status does not always decide your purse !

Snail - Your points are good! I am sure you know this but just in case you dont ALL the facts have not yet been shared on AX!

This is not just about expectation on what someone should get paid.

But reality of life as I know it...As a fighter you get a certain purse depending on your experience and title being contested usually then a ticket deal which allows you to earn as much if not more than the top of the bill. If you do as you say and sell tickets. I have worked with Paul H, Colin Payne , Mick Fowles to name but a few and this is life as I know it.

Ref Moley: She is entitled to her view like everyone else.

Jag - In my opinion you have done yourself NO FAVOURS. One minute you have comitted to my show the next you have committed to another show. Then you come back after several people come on here stating B is already commited and offer B's services along with some bizarre swap which if you were serious then I asked you to call me or email me direct.

NEITHER OF WHICH YOU HAVE DONE!

I dont want to put on here ALL my reasons for not working with you again. But this is my right as a fighter, coach and promoter to choose who to work with or not.

I have to say that everyone i have dealt with on this bill so far has been a dream to work with. Given how you have behaved you have got a complete cheek to ask for a simple yes or no answer from me.

When you want to get serious about this business and act in a honorable and professional manner call me and we can meet face to face. Clear the air and who knows one should never say never!

NO!

hmmmm got to say it does look strange that he can not fight as he is already fighting on a show then he can etc, pity all this was not sorted 2 weeks ago when Dean posted on here that he would like to promote a fight with B on it but all we herd was silence and B saying " ask " the boss which it looks like Dean did on many occasions but all this aside the show acorrding to Dean is closed off to any new fights so what else now happens is now by the by and now all we can do is sit back and dwell on what could have been and wait for what on the 10th march for what will be !!!!! that just my view and who am i .... just a ax member writing my view ...Good night all

I hardly think this will be Lex's hardest fight of his life, considering who he's beat already... both Ambrose brothers etc. If Dean's fight against the German for the WKA world title is anything to go by, let's be honest, Lex doesn't really have anything to worry about.

I dont mean to be disrespectful to Dean Sugden, i take my hat off to him for fighting Lex, but lets be honest here who has Dean ever fought. As i said before most of us have seen the Daniel Kauffman fight.. Daniel fought like a novice, he couldn't put one combination together kicks or punches? I've seen novices fight better than him. I am Ranked at Middleweight (75kg) in IKF cause i defeated Richard Leeson who was the current British Champion at the time. After winning this British title in 2002 and I beat the current WKA British Middle Weight Champion at the time Dave Mistreanu for the vacant WKU British Super Middle Weight Title (75kg). Then i fought Wym Nuyens Belgium at 75kg.

Since then I have campaigned at Light Middle 72.5kg and won ISKA European against Romita Mauritzio from Italy and then Daniel Kaufmann at 72.5kg.

All earlier fights were at Light Middle so I suppose this is my natural weight division.

Lee Jons Jr

Tell me honestly dean, do you think you beat the german kid on pain and glory?
dean sugden
Posted: 2007-01-09 17:10:09
Yes - But I will agree with everybody it was probably one of it not my worst performance.

It is KICK boxing and although he was coming forward, my understanding of judging is being effective. Landing Kicks and punches. Irrespective of who is the aggressor.

If all was equal on the above then i would obviously lean towards who was initiating, aggresion and defending the most effectively.

It was a unanimous decision under Full Contact KICK boxing rules. So although dissapointed with my performance happy with the decision.
Lee Jons Jr
Posted: 2007-01-09 17:13:32
I personally scored it for the german but you raise fair points and credit to you for not ignoring the question. Sorry for going off-topic.
dean sugden
Posted: 2007-01-09 17:23:24
No worries Good and fair Question - I was gutted after that fight and wont make any excuses for my performance. But what lifted me was a comment from Pete Crooke straight after and that was... "a win is a win and if you can grind out a win on a bad night what can you do on a good night". Unfortunately for me it was the first time alot of people may have seen me fight and it has been screened several times on TV since.

I think its those experiences that make you a better fighter.

The Lincoln Boys have come up trumps again showing the kind of steel that put them on the map with great fighters of the past Trevor Tacy, Lee Swaby, Richard Action Jackson otherwise known as Puggy etc.

Richard has decided to step back into the ring one more time, this time to fight Mark Ellwood. These are two top cookies and in terms of old school they are exactly that.

If you not seen these boys fight before then its another reason to be at Newark Showground on March 10th. You will not get another chance to see these 2 again that is for sure. Puggy has got over 7 weeks to prepare for this one so he will be in great shape. Not that he isnt anyway.

Respect to you Puggy and Big Dave plus special mention to Nige who is inspirational.

Last time he fought my lad Ronnie Hogan at Lincoln when he did us a huge favour and took the fight with about 2 days to train. Ronnie was a very good fighter with 6 fights, 5 wins to that point.

Shame it was a no contest due to a clash of heads with puggy getting cut badley. (bloody southpaws always lead with their bloody heads).

I wish him luck with this fight. He is a good fighter and a great lad as he showed in the bar after when despite his cut he still managed to drink till 3 am!!

Ps.
We will be back training next week with 5 of our fighters and i'm looking forward to meeting you all again soon.

Friday Night at The Hull Ice Areana saw Mark Ellwood beat Darren Forrest in a very competitive fight to decide the ISKA British Super Middleweight Title.

Big Rob Gleadhill also beat Kevin Smiles in a Heavy weight contest that had everything. Spinning kicks jumping Roundhouse kicks, Big hard and fast punches resulting in Rob winning by TKO in round 2.

I also had a novice on Scott Wallington who performed brilliantly to out point Tom Kemp from Tornado Gym.

I also had the pleasure of helping in the corner of one of the Rugby League players who were white collar boxing for charity. Waht a fight!

Think the highlights will be on Sky Sports shortly as Lee Radford Hull FC club captain looked dynamite.

Now mark and the Hull faithfull are looking forward to March 10th as Mark will fight for the last time against Richard Action Jackson from Lincoln.

Dean, just picking up on this and one question re. mark/Darren which will help the next updated rankings.

The ISKA Super-middle...whats the weight there?? ISKA s-m limit is 78 right?? So is that true, just that darren has always been a 69-74 kilo fighter...so just wanna check we have that right.

cheers

Just back from weigh in and big meal!!

Dean and Lex both made the weight at 74kg both looked fit and strong so it looks like it could be a cracker!!

I came in at 64.1kg and Andy came in at 67kg (he was skipping the 2.5kg off when we left lol)

both Tim Drury and Colm Gillane made the weight with a kg or two to spare both looked ripped as fook, especially Colm!!

If the weigh in is anything to go by then the show tomorrow is gonna be massive. Quite a few people canme down to the gym, and with Boundary sound recording live it all got quite exciting. There were un prompted rounds of applause after each fighter weighed in. All the fighters were true sports men and a credit to the sport.

All I need now is a good nights sleep (unlike last night when I woke at 3.15 to a panic that I was going to the wrong airport to collect Lex and had to double check my e-mails to be sure - how mad)

Results from last night

Chad Sugden v Leif Taggert Demonstration bout

Jade Grierson v Karen Bailey - Jade Grierson Newark Martial Arts
Barry Lock v Keith Morris - Keith unfortunately had problems at the medical so John Lawson stepped in to have a demo bout with Barry. The bout was stopped I think due to a cut on Barry.

Mark Ellwood v Richard Jackson - Mark Ellwood Hull

Kev Beckett v Michael Johnson - Kev Beckett Fudoshin

Steve Swinburn v Cris Deakin - Steve Swinburn by KO

Jamie Norkett v Marlon Hunt - Marlon Hunt BFKKO

Shawn Burton v Andy Burton - Andy Burton Sunderland. Alby Bimpson president of the Golden belt along with the judges also decided fighter of the night should go to Andy who was presented with the trophy during the after party.

Tim Drury (Austrailia) v Colm Gillane - Tim Drury Australia

Dean Sugden (England) v Lex Easdon (Scotland)- Lex Easdon Scotland. The fight went the full twelve rounds with a unanimous decision going to Lex.

The event was a great success with the Newark crew being praised at all levels. Cris Janson-Piers from the BFKKO commented to me at the afterparty on the proffesionlism of the Newark team and congratulated us on doing it the right way.

Pictures to follow, got masses to go through so please be patient.

Finding it hard to put into words my feelings about the final bout. The respect that Dean and Lex have shown throught the last two days has blown me away. They are both an amazing credit to the sport and true role models to the kids coming through the clubs today. Respect to you both, I wish you both sucess with all you do in the future.

Well what Can I say.

What a ABSOLUTE AWESOME SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A big Thanks to Dean for brining me over and flying the Australian Flag, was a great fight and I enjoyed it. Little ring rust as have had 12 months out of the ring, but what I way to return. Full credit and respect to Colm Gillane he put a cracking fight up. Few times I thought mate I was going to drop you - and then you just shock it off and kept coming back. Truly enjoyed our fight mate, so thanks.

Thanks to all the English fighters that I met and socialised with at the after party, BOOMS not real sure about that drink you gave me though brother, ha ha.

No this has been a truly fantastic experience being in Newark, and the people have been so supportive and behind me 100%. I will be talking it up to everyone back home. I look forward to the opportunity now on coming back and fighting again.

Dean and Lex your fight was great, and Dean you stepped up against all the ODDS - you took a warrior who has stopped most of his opponents on for the full 12 rounds, so all respect to you - as you gave him something to be worried about.

To THE NEWARK MARTIAL ARTS: Thankyou all, the local school, radio station, The Grange where I am staying.

You have been a pleasure to meet and will remember the experience.

All the best to you all on your up and coming fights, and look forward to seeing you on my return.

Thanks to everyone...the team behind the scenes, the trainers, the fighters and the fans.

You did everyone proud!

Very pleased to put on a show with such quality. Now I know what all the fuss was about regarding Lex.

He is a great fighter, and i was honored to share the ring. Slow start was not the plan but to b fair to Lex his game plan was bang on. I felt happier with the later rounds but the decision was right. Lex keeps his mantle Undisputed Middle weight Champion.

Well Done Lex!

The Future is bright what an undercard from start to finish!

Sept 7th and Dec 1st we will be doing it all over again. Smaller venue back to Kelham Hall so there will be a race on for tickets.

Hey everyone

Not long home after a great weekend in Newark! Thanks to everyone who supported me and to all in Newark for your hospitality. I really enjoyed my fight with Dean and feel i've proved to all the sceptics regaring my age and how I wouldnt be able to last 12 rounds. No disrespect to Dean but i never felt at any time i was under pressure and didnt have to pull out the big guns and go for the ko, as i have always done in the past! Although i did test Dean a few times with some good shots massive respect to him as he took them well. I was carrying alot of injuries coming into this fight and wasn't as fit as id like to have been, but hey i've done it again and dont feel i've got anything left to prove. Once again total respect to you Dean for stepping into the ring and proving you are a world class fighter.

Also was great seeing some of the old faces again especially Mark Ellwood, was great seeing you again mate, hope we can keep in touch.

Was a crackin show, not sure what to make of my fight yet till i see the dvd, couldnt get into the kind of fight i wanted as andy had done his homework and tried to keep out of a brawl, as dawn and h said to me on the night my timing and range was a little off, but i felt that i had the better of any exchanges we did have and my team felt i had done enough to win, but was always going to be real close so we dnt have any complaints!!

Dean and Lex's fight was great to watch, i thought Lexs army of fans were fanastic!!

Tim well done on your win mate, nice fight and nice guy! The drink i gave you was a pint of larger with 3 dirty shots in it, i think i put bells, sambuca and aftershock in it, hope you enjoyed it!!

Big Bird i love you!!

Shawn,
It was a great fight m8, no one can say different, like you said it could have gone either way, you both do your homework on each other and everytime you fight it is close.
Chad gave me a good fight and I think we put on a good demonstration to start the show. I always enjoy my sessions with Chad as he is a technical fighter and I like that in a fight rather than mixing it.

Newark Martial Arts,
As usual you made me very welcome and put on a great well timed , well run show. Thank you to you all !!!!

Dean,
Wot can I say, u are still a champ for getting in that ring and doing 12 rounds of superb fighting. Now you know why you are an influcence to up and coming fighters. Well done m8 !!!
