This fight looks set to be a cracker - Jamie's rangy kicks and Tate's movement and heavy hands could make this a deffo not to miss.

Prediction: Good fight until Tate stops Bates
Why: Tate is faster, hits harder and is all round better :-)

Good luck both guys.

If it goes the distance Bates (just), if not I can only see a Tate victory. Eitherway it will be great to see 2 well matched quality fighters get it on!

Tate will win within 3 rounds. No way Bates can run away from him for much longer than that. The other option is that Bates changes the way he does things and comes at Tate but then Tate will end it wintin the first!!

Tate doesnt throw bombs, he just seems to throw accurate, powerful shots, a while back alot of people wanted to see him get a pasting (me included lol) because he has a gob on him, but he has backed up his mouth!

Can Bates?.....

The fight is in Newark Nottinghamshire @ Kelham Hall NG23 5QX.

Check it out its the best venue in Britain!!!!

But its NOT Jamies back yard... Jamie is from Stanley Co Durham.

Newark is in the middle of Co Durham and Luton. So its middle ground for what is going to the best fight of the year!!!

I think it will be a classic, Jamie is very experienced fighter...Andrew is very explosive but I dont think we are going to see a quick win. This will be fight where you wont want to miss a second of each round because of the styles of fighters involved :-)

Sorry my Geography is cleary horrible.

I agree it is a fight that all should not miss and it is going to full of atmosphere! It is going to be the best fight of the year.

I do however think that Andrew will finish the fight. Not long till we find out!

Had Jamie down at our gym last night sparring with Jamie Moore , got to say he could of sparred all night , The guy stood and mixed it at times with a 105k fighter ,his timing was excellent, as was his movement and ringcraft , Having had the pleasure of seeing both Andrew Tate and Jamie Bates fight ( both great to watch )
my prediction goes with a Jamie Bates win .
Dean Sugden

Interesting comments and views... I have had quite a few well respected coaches swinging towards Jamie.

Most people on here seem to be going towards Andrew. He is very strong and explosive. This fight really intrigues me and I am only going to make one prediction...

Who ever brings their A game will win :-)

Its a great fight to put on and both camps have been very easy to work with.

Makes the promoters job easy. When we started promoting 10 years ago we set out to put on the very best match ups irrespective of whether they were local or not. I loved being in great fights and I love promoting and watching great fights.

This is probably the best line up to date...If you never been to Kelham HALL before dont miss this one!!!

Full contact needs this fight and these fighters if it is to have a PROFESSIONAL future. It needs this show to, and others like it.

Top fighters are just not fighting each other. The sports best are nowhere to be seen so this is important.

Good luck to both, I like both Andrew and Amir. Jamie also so out of respect I will just do both fighters justice by saying I hope its the fight of the year!

I agree with Steve East, been watching Jamie Bates sparring with Jamie Moore and really suprised with his strength. Always knew he was brilliant technically, but didn't think he could mix it with someone of Jamie M's strength and power. The few times I've watched Tate he has looked very powerful and quite impressive in stopping opponents, but we all know it's much harder when your opponent isn't standing in front of you letting you hit him!! No offence to Tate, think he's a class fighter but I take Jamie to win by either a comfortable points victory or late stoppage.

One week to go and it will be finally here a year in the making, im happy to be part of a fight that has the whole of the british kickboxing comunity excited again, think thers about 50 odd geordie supporters coming down for this one i hope the rest of kickboxing who wanted to see this fight come out and support it too its going to be a great fight bring it on i cant wait!!!!!

Posted: 2010-10-09 06:59:12
Just to repeat what Jamie says really, this is a fight that people if they are interested in the sport should want to see...and its happening on a very good show with excellent support and at a great venue. To be blunt if people can't get off their backsides and support this show, they will probably never support anything...and then the jokes is they will then moan about how things 'aint as good as they used to be'

It's an amazing night for kickboxing great show down in Telford wish I was able to go but a massive fight night in Paisley aswell... I can't see past Tate for this fight think a early knockout but was proven wrong when Zander beat boom boom so you never know... Good luck to both fighter think here is about 60 odd dundonians going to paisley to support Ronnie so betweenus at Paisley and the Geordies in telford I'm sure both fights will have great atmospheres

It's in Newark David not Telford mate!

With Colin on this. It's ok giving it the big one on a keyboard but when the fights we all say we wanna see are on we need to go and see em. Big support means the big fights can happen because the prestige and finance is there.

Can I also say how refreshing it is to see a fight of this stature between two of the UK's best fighters at probably the best venue on the circuit being fought with NO title on offer. Well done both camps:-)

The undercard for this fight is pretty damn good too.
See ya there

Just like to wish Dean and NMA all the best with the show, I'm sure it will live up to Kelhams high standards.

As for Jamie and Andrew well what a fight Jamie's usuasl hieght and reach advantage will be negated with Andrrew as an opponent and power and punch accuracy will be pretty well matched too, a real tight fight too call, Jamies movement is second to none and on that, I'll go with Jamie on points, but he will have to work real hard for it.

its early full results to follow i promise, wow wow wow what a show!!!

there were some last minute challenges but the fights were awesome!

Whos the Daddy?

Andrew Tate but this was a tough fight, great fight with Jamie ahead on points till the KO. 21 years old Jamie will come back even stronger from this I am sure. Andrew was coming forward and every round was very close but Jamie was def ahead going into last round. But to be fair to Andrew he pulled it out of the bag with an exceptional Head Kick which caught jamie flush.

Both camps very respectful and so easy to deal with. I look forward to putting this one again;-)

Dale, a little bit out there mate. This was a tough fight with Jamie def ahead at time of stoppage, how much depended on your take, but he fought a great fight. Movement and countering on backfoot was superb. But great finish by andrew for sure.

Firstly like to say what a good show! Some really top class fights! The venue was just class!

I was really taken by how tricky Bates was, it was a very close fight! Every round was close! I had Andrew in front going into the last but I feel there will be many a divided opinion on who was in front! I said I did not see it going past 3 rounds but Jamie showed me up on that point! I always thought that Andrew had the tools to stop the fight and anyone who has sparred or fought Andrew knows that he has the tools to stop you not only with his hands and legs! Top class fight and was good to see Jamie back up after that KO and wish him the best luck going on!

I again from a biased opinion had Tristan ahead in his fight but that too was a good fight!

I enjoyed watching both Chad and Regis fight! Also enjoyed Dean's fight and also had a chance to talk to him after and have to say top class bloke all round! So my first experience of Kelham Hall was..... Wow what a great event and thanks for putting on a good top class show and well done to all who stepped up and fought! Respect to you all!

and i feel myself and tate put up performances that made it worth the wait, just a shame i was on end of the explosive finish lol but fair play well done Andrew and team it was your night

i feel there is unfinished business i was winning going into the last round and would really really like a rematch so id really appreciate it if tates team took me up on this offer

Sounds good great venue... Great nights.. Get Ronnie fighting on that show so we can all come down from Dundee... Maybe match with Qasim haha what a night that would be... Great fight and great effort from both fighters.

I think anybody who has seen Andrew Tate knows he has the power to stop anybody with 1 shot.

Jamie was elusive and throwing a lot of round kicks, however the vast majority were parried or blocked by Tate. Whether or not that should put him ahead is questionable.

But whoever was ahead is irrelevant, Jamie was slowly cracking under the pressure and the finish came in round 8.

If the fight had been for a title and been 10 or 12 rounds the score cards would matter even less.

Andrew has a tendency to put people to sleep and last night was business as usual.

Great fight. Greater KO!

Jamie and I are both backfoot fighters so there was a choice...

Both fight backing up and ruin everyones hopes for a good fight or me take it too him.

Amir and I decided to make it exciting, walk into his game (and make his night easier) and pressure him to the KO.

Which happened.

Fair play to Jamie as this is my first kickboxing fight ALL YEAR as most people wont even fight me - but I cant be disappointed with such a devastating knockout.

I parried his shots and never felt an ounce of pain, stalked him till i put him out.

Cant wait for the dvd :)

The point of whoever was in front going into the last round only has a point if the fight goes to the cards. If that was the case then we could debate who was or wasn't in front or who or whoever should have won! The result was KO, I am not trying to dispute that Jamie did not impress or shock some, KO negates it all! It was a good fight for the Kick boxing world to bear witness too!

Ok...first of all thanks Dean for having us!
I missed a lot of fights but understandably I was busy preparing my fighters.

Tristan v Salters
-one comment only NO WAY A DRAW!!!
-Trista Rocked Salter at least 3 times and I did not know there were draws for Title fights but it is what it is - A REMATCH A MUST!!!

Tate v Bates
- A good fight, both ready and gave their best!!!

-Now, As to the results there is no need to discuss COULD HAVE WOULD HAVE SHOULD HAVE...end result is what it is - The BIGGEST KO in recent Kickboxing History!!!

Also, everyone is entiteld to his own opinion and NO WAY is someones kicks against ones guard which were nearly ALL blocked anyway putting that person ahead!
Andrew stuck to the game plan and pressured the fight from round 1 all the way to the end.

Still a good fight and respect to the Bates Camp: )

Jamie it doesnt work that way.

You had 4 fights this year I had NO kickboxing fights. I was as rusty as im ever gona be.

I had a broken hand from my last fight and i fought you anyway.

YOU GOT KNOCKED OUT.

If you deserve a rematch youll get it, concentrate on your next 5 fights and if you win come talk to me.

You cant just lose and say "rematch rematch".

The fight was close but you were at your best with me at my worst and i still put you asleep for 10mins.

Talk next year if you do well.

Good luck with collins.

Well done Dean great show.
Well done Chad and Regis both on top of there game.

Well done Mushy business like performance with late opponent change.
Tom v James was a classic well done guys!

Tristan Tate v Steve Salter was the only decision I got wrong:-( I had Tate ahead.

Chris Deakin won a brilliant fight also.

Tate v Bates! Quality!

Tate the aggressor and Jamie countering off the back foot brilliantly. First time id seen Jamie and well impressed.
Andrew was pushing for a mistake but Jamie fought on the outside with great counterkicks. I had Jamie one round ahead going into the last round. In the 8th for the first time in the fight Jamie left an opening and Tate took it with devastating results. Jamie won many fans last night and he has a bright future.
REMATCH??????
Credit must be given to Andrew for taking the fight to Jamie, forcing the error and then taking the opertunity in real style. A very good fight between two fighters on top of there game.

Worth the two hour each way drive???? Oh yes:-)

Regards

Dean

Brilliant show as always Dean loved every single fight!

Chad is frighteningly talented and Regis put on a real show. Pleasure to watch such talented fighters. Body snatcher a real talent too!! Deaks looked best ive ever seen him!! Super sharp and putting everything together really well.

Have to disagree with the Tate vs Bates scores others have announced. I had it 5 rounds to 2 to Tate as non of Jamies work had any effect and most of his kicks landed on the arms. Tate controlled the distance and the ring, had better defense and landed cleaner shots in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. Bates was very busy in the 5th and 6th and Tate did next to nothing as he looked for a clean one shot knock out which never came as Jamie was very elusive but then Tate turned it on again in the 7th backing Jamie up throughout and breaking through a couple of times. The first was the only round i wasnt sure on, it was really even and could have gone either way but i liked Tate because he was physically stronger and more aggressive backing Jamie up and landing heavier cleaner kicks.

Jamie was very impressive though and ive no doubt he'll be back but i felt like Tate was far more effective and his shots had visible effect - visibly unbalancing Jamie, making him grimace to body shots. Tate also controlled the ring trappig Jamie on the ropes and in the corners many times.

Cka, beckett didn't fight deaks, Nathan Kirk did, took it on the morning of the show and usually fights at around 60kg, taking nothing away from chris as he's a tough lad and a great bloke, but nath certainly did well

Thanks Mick.

Will wait for the DVD and commentary to see what they say.

It doesnt feel close in my mind at all - and if it doesnt look close bates will have to wait till hes proved himself again.

Because it was a devastating loss.

If I think he deserves it he can have it.

Great show, well worth the 5 hour round trip from South Shields. Just to verify Moley's comment it was Nathan McCarthy who won fight 3. It was an excellent performance from the lad after coming back a really nasty dislocated knee suffered in Deans Junior Full Contact show in May (I think!). He only took the fight on Tuesday as well and showed true heart and determination in beating an older opponent. Not bad for a lad of only 17 who has missed most of year through injury!
As for rest of show, quality as always at Kelham Hall!! Fight of the night, toss up between Chris Deakins win for sheer entertainment or Chads fight for absolute class and brilliance from both fighters.
As far as top of the bill goes I had Jamie 5-2 up going into last round and uttered the fatal words, 'He's got this as long as he doesn't get knocked out'. Sorry Jamie!! As for people saying his kicks all landed on guard, maybe most of round kicks did but how many front kicks knocked Tate back and I think Jamie landed more punches, not that there was many thrown in fight!! Fair play to Tate, it was an unbelievable kick for the ko and nice to see a little class and concern for a downed and obviously hurt opponent.
One little moan, I'm not a fan of seeing 'white collar boxing' on top class kickboxing shows. Might just be me but thought atmosphere was brought down a bit after Chads incredible fight being followed by the two boxing fights. Anyone else thoughts on that??

my apoligies craig didnt know the other lads name but he certainly did himself justice beleiving he did put chris down, had a lot of power in the early rounds, correct gareth hurrell just turned 19 lost to nathan on the 3rd fight close fight i believe no excuses from this end gareth been away for 1 month at uni not putting in wot he normally does took the fight against danny capeness when he was 95k weighed in with nathan at 99k, BUT its not an excuse THE BETTER MAN WON ON THE NIGHT, i would like to put it on again as it was a close one, majority, and gareth not reaching his kick count in the last rnd, i believe its worth a rematch some time as its normally pretty hard to match the heavyweights

Cheers Mick and CKA(Pete)

Things going great with Dean and NMA and feeling much better all round, had a lot of stuff going on in the last month or so but pleased with the performance. Shame about the last minute change again but these things happen and I need to watch the dvd for the knockdown, personaly thought I slipped but if the dvd shows otherwise fair does.

Well done and thanks to the rest of the NMA crew (spesh Deano and Phil)for the training and sparring and Quas when he came down.
